Colorado Man Learns His Fate for Killing Lady with Wooden Handle from Bathroom Plunger

A Colorado man will expend the remainder of his days imprisonment for murdering a lady while using handle of the bathroom plunger, the Weld County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday.

Jesus Romero, 67, was sentenced Thursday by Judge Julie Hoskins to some mandatory existence sentence within the killing of Edna Woodrum, 58.  A jury charged Romero of one count of first degree legal homicide, one count of criminally negligent homicide, and something count of sexual assault following a week-lengthy trial.

Based on a news release in the DA’s office, a jury agreed that Romero wiped out Woodrum in the own Greeley, Colo. apartment on April 25, 2018.

It had been Romero who known as 911.  The defendant told dispatchers that Woodrum was “unresponsive inside a pool of bloodstream in the apartment,” this news release stated.  It continues:

When officials showed up, they found Woodrum naked, bloody and dead on the floor. There is also evidence in the scene that recommended there was challenging. One neighbor reported hearing a disagreement and three loud thumps from the wall earlier at night.

The defendant told police that Woodrum is at his apartment because she decided to have relations with him.  However, investigators believe the victim bled to dying and it was brutally murdered, following a 17.5 ” wooden handle from the bathroom plunger was discovered protruding of her anus.

Evidence within the situation demonstrated that Romero and Woodrum weren’t inside a relationship coupled with not socialized previously.

“Her big heart and trust for individuals is exactly what wiped out her,” Jessica Bridgman, the victim’s daughter, stated during Romero’s sentencing hearing. “She believed everybody was good, gave everybody an opportunity, was kind to everybody regardless of their race, sex, or the things they appeared as if. All she saw would be a person. And, this trust and letting her guard lower for this monster, cost her her existence.”

“It’s disgusting and repulsive,” Bridgman ongoing. “He is really a monster and shows in human form that evil exists about this earth. The planet must know evil can also be our nearby neighbor and we should always bear in mind, whatsoever occasions, regardless of what.”

Chief Deputy Da Anthony Perea handled the situation for that DA’s office.

“This is a very lengthy and emotional road for Ms. Woodrum’s family,” Perea stated. “After 3 years of the uphill fight, we could finally get justice for that victim and her family. Though no sentence or outcome within this terrible situation is ever going to bring Ms. Woodrum back, I’m grateful we’re in a position to finally put this situation to relax, which the household can get some kind of closure within this nightmare they’ve lived yesteryear couple of years.”

The killing happened in a senior living facility known as the Birchwood Apartments, the DA’s office stated.

A Colorado Department of Corrections inmate search doesn’t indicate where Romero is incarcerated by Saturday.  He’s listed just to be among individuals impacted by a “jail backlog.”
